She has the voice of an angel, and it's a thing of beauty to watch & listen to her as she guides you through your practice; you just can't help but feel calmer and more relaxed after spending some time with our inspirational yogi Laura. Read on to find out more about what makes this Aussie chick tick, and how she started her Yoga Journey...
What is your favourite workout? Ooh, that's a tough one. At the moment I relish heading in to a long and winding practice of Universal or Hatha 3 yoga. It’s quite simply the loveliest treat I can give myself. I feel most fortunate! When I am short on time, I head on a 20 min run, stop for a 15 min yoga sequence and run back another 20 min. I love the sweat and release of feel good hormones.

Share with us the tastiest meal or snack you have eaten this week? Oh, well that’s and easy one. It doesn’t get better than fresh, thickly-sliced toast with a dash of butter then spread with Vegemite, topped with lots of smashed avocado (sometimes a tiny splash of lemon) and a sprinkling of sea salt and freshly ground pepper…delicioso!
What is your favourite song, or playlist, to sweat to? That’s forever changing. My girls always ask me these kinds of questions - what’s my one favourite colour, city, singer… it changes often.
I love how Spotify running chooses tracks from my playlist and matches the tempo to my pace. It helps these legs go for a little longer.
My favourite tracks to run to atm are Seven Nation Army, The White Stripes. Rippin Kittin, Golden Boy with Miss Kittin. Feel Good - Stanton Warriors Remix, Gorillaz. Good Luck, Basement Jax.
Here’s a few more from my own playlist…(albeit some on the pop side due to the beat!)

- Chasing the Sun, The Wanted.
- Levels, Avicii
- I Cry, Flo Rida,
- Sugar Robin Schulz
- If I go, Ella Eyre
- Butterfly, Crazy Town
- Infinity, Infinity Ink
- Sing Hallelujah!, Dr Alban
- Symphony, Clean Bandit
- Cheap Thrills, Sia
- What Goes Around, Justin Timberlake
- Slip (Kat Krazy), Stooshe
- Give me Everything , Pitbull (haha!)
- I Wanna go, Paulette (?)
- Who’s that Chick, Rihanna
Etc etc the list is long. And I love my yoga playlist too. Music, my love!
What does your weekly workout schedule look like? Muay Thai boxing, Universal yoga, Hatha yoga, running, hot vinyasa yoga, cycling, hot hatha yoga…
Are you a Morning Lark or a Night Owl? Night owl without any doubt, no matter how I try.
Who inspires you? My daughters inspire me. Children. Why? Their beauty, their intuition and wonder at life shines through their eyes. And when they sleep they radiate pure love. They inspire me to be the best version of myself, ‘to be the change you want to see in the World’.
What is the hardest thing you have ever done? Gee - growing up, having children, losing a loved one?? I think the hardest thing I’ve ever done lately yet the most incredible experience was my Universal teacher training. It was so intense - I went in with what I thought were eyes wide open, looking forward to the end result, raring to go as a teacher when in fact I came out with the realisation that this journey had only just begun. Forever a student with so much more to learn.
Name 3 things on your ‘bucket list’ I only dream about the following and so now I’ve put them in writing I had best put a plan in place:
- Study Spanish and speak it fluently.
- Then head back to South and Central America to re visit the places I passed through and get to those that I didn’t.
- To play Chopin on the piano.
What superpower do you wish you could have? I’ve always wanted to fly. Maybe that’s on my bucket list too - learn to fly a plane or a glider like my Dad.
What is the best thing about being a Yoga Instructor? Witnessing the transformation and progression of an individual as they learn to surrender and focus during their yoga practice.
‘To Plan’? or ‘Go with the Flow’? Both, always be prepared but if the plan isn’t the right fit on the day I go with a different flow!
Tell us one thing that we did not know about you? I was terrified of going into my first studio yoga class after having children. I had been practicing on my own for so long. So, I hid up the back, felt sure I didn’t fit in and certainly didn’t want the teacher to assist me and make me do some crazy shapes. Then over time I realised that I had nothing to fear as each person in that room was in their individual head space, listening only to their breath and the sound of the teachers voice, doing their own thing. Yet in unison.
Also, I’m a really amazing singer… in my dreams!
Namaste xx
